STRONG PROMX POINTS HAUL FOR WATERS AND HUSQVARNA IN CANBERRA
Husqvarna Racing Team’s defending Australian MX1 champion Todd Waters earned a strong haul of points from the second round of the 2021 ProMX Championship at Canberra, ACT, on Sunday, to remain second in this year's title chase.

Waters clocked the second-fastest lap-time in qualifying and narrowly missed the podium overall during a day that saw mixed-format racing for the premier class.

In the opening moto, Waters started strongly in third position, but was relegated to sixth before he regrouped and charged his way back to second place.

The new back-to-back moto formats for the second and third races of the day took place on an increasingly hard-pack track that Waters didn’t feel completely comfortable on.

In the first of the two sprint races Waters again got a decent start and had some spirited battles before settling for fourth place aboard his FC 450.

The third and final race saw the circuit continue to dry out and deteriorate. Not wanting to put in a concentrated charge at the risk of making a mistake, the Queenslander wisely took the points on offer as he crossed the line in fifth.

Waters’ continued consistency sees him remain second in the championship standings as the ProMX Championship heads to Gillman, SA, for the third round on 30 May 2021.

Todd Waters: "It was an interesting day out there. I qualified well and had a good first race, but the track baked out before the back-to-back races and I struggled with that hard-pack. It was an easy track to throw it away on and, with everyone being so close, I didn’t want that to happen. I rode within my capabilities and I’m happy to walk away with the points today - it’s certainly a lot better than crashing and getting 10ths. We might have lost a few points in the championship, but we’ll go back, regroup and look forward to Gillman.”
